
Mr. Blum focuses his practice on the trial of complicated commercial and tort matters in both State and Federal Courts. He also assists and advises clients in their response to government investigations and subpoenas.
Matters recently handled by Mr. Blum include:
- Successful prosecution and settlement of a matter on behalf of a New Jersey manufacturer against a Hong Kong based Receiver for breach of contract and tort claims, including successfully conducting discovery in Southeast Asia;
- Representation of leasing companies and banks in lender liability, deepening insolvency and fraud claims prosecuted by Bankruptcy Trustees. These resulted in reported decisions at Stanziale v. Sun National Bank (In re Dwek) Civ. Div. 39:09-cv-5046 2010 U.S. Dist. Lexis 3203 (D.N.J. Jan. 15, 2010) and Popular Leasing USA, Inc. v. Forman, et al., Civ. No. 09-2788, Civ. No. 09-2964, 2009 U.S. Dist. Lexis 84138 (D.N.J. Sept. 14, 2009);
- Successful representation of multiple leasing companies in a nationwide fraud investigation conducted by the Multi-State Attorney General Group;
- Successful prosecution and settlement of an employment matter involving the interaction of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination and the Family Medical Leave Act which resulted in a published opinion at Brown v. Dunbar Armored, Inc., Civ. No. 08-3286, 2009 U.S. Dist. Lexis 115572 (D.N.J. Dec. 10, 2009).
Mr. Blum's passion for trial work began during his early years as a police officer in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where he quickly rose to the rank of lieutenant. His law enforcement experience in investigations, interrogatories and the courtroom presentation, combined with more than 25 years of litigation experience, has laid the foundation for evaluating and presenting strong cases on his clients' behalf.
Mr. Blum works closely with his clients to determine their ultimate goals, which may vary from seeking a quick resolution to trying a case through to a verdict. Mr. Blum excels at discovering and organizing information, cutting through the clutter to identify the testimony, documents and evidence that will be effective at trial.
In addition to his full-time trial practice, Mr. Blum is responsible for network administration at the firm, and has served as the firm’s Managing Partner, responsible for overall administration of the practice. In this capacity, he established a forward-thinking culture, putting into place leading-edge infrastructure systems, the level of which are typically found only in much larger firms. Mr. Blum currently serves as the corporate secretary of the firm.
Mr. Blum is a member of the American Bar Association’s Litigation Pretrial Practice and Discovery Committee and the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Technology Committee. He is also a member of The American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Associations.
