As a founder of Deeb Petrakis Blum & Murphy, Jonathan M. Petrakis has over
two decades of transactional and litigation experience.
Mr. Petrakis is head of the Business Transaction Group at the Firm and leads a team of attorneys focused on commercial transactional practice, including representation of lenders in commercial loans such as mortgage, asset-based and construction loans. He also actively represents lenders in actions against defaulting borrowers and guarantors, including bankruptcy litigation, creditor’s rights litigation outside of bankruptcy and the documentation of forbearance agreements.
Mr. Petrakis also routinely counsels clients with respect to the negotiation of and preparation of commercial real estate agreements of sale and leases, employment agreements and buy/sell agreements, among other contracts that businesses and entrepreneurs regularly encounter. Included among the most interesting transactions handled by Mr. Petrakis are the relocation of a national retail optical company from Texas to New Jersey, the redevelopment of several former industrial sites in the Philadelphia region, the preparation of clients’ employee handbooks and policies, and the financing of businesses as diverse as golf courses and software companies.
Mr. Petrakis spent approximately the first ten years of his practice exclusively as a litigator, and remains actively involved in the representation of clients in claims arising from alleged violation of employment laws, breach of contract and other business torts, and bodily injury. Clients repeatedly turn to Mr. Petrakis for a resolution to their transactional and litigation issues because of his exceptional blend of experience and his responsive and practical style.
