J. Colin Knisely focuses his practice on the trial of complicated commercial and tort matters in State, Federal and Bankruptcy Court. Before joining Deeb, Petrakis, Blum & Murphy in 2006, he practiced for several years in Cleveland, Ohio, where his practice centered on the trial of professional liability, products liability, insurance, and commercial matters.
Recent matters handled by Mr. Knisely include:
- $1.85 million verdict in favor of a bank client in a commercial mortgage dispute in which the borrowers alleged that their signatures were forged. Joseph and Terry Dwek v. Sun National Bank, US Bankruptcy Court ,District of New Jersey, Adv No. 07-1697;
- Defense verdict in favor of a national restaurant chain in a premises liability/good samaritan case.
- Successful prosecution and settlement of a matter on behalf of a New Jersey manufacturer against a Hong Kong based Receiver for breach of contract and tort claims, including successfully conducting discovery in Southeast Asia;
- Representation of banks in a lender liability, deepening insolvency and fraud cases prosecuted by Bankruptcy Trustees. These resulted in reported decisions at Stanziale v. Sun National Bank (In re Dwek) Civ. Div. 39:09-cv-5046 2010 U.S. Dist. Lexis 3203 (D.N.J. Jan. 15, 2010);
- Defense verdict in favor of one of the nation's foremost manufacturers of dump, transfer and flatbed trailer in a products liability matter.
Mr. Knisely graduated magna cum laude from Allegheny College in 1993 with a BA in Political Science, where he was also honored with the Political Science Senior Thesis Award. He studied law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland where he received his JD degree in 1997. Mr. Knisely is licensed in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
